Summer heat can exacerbate bloating symptoms. The tight waistbands and sluggish energy. Whether it’s from salty snacks, travel, or just being off your usual routine, bloating doesn’t have to ruin your summer vibe. Here are simple, nutrition-forward ways to reduce bloat and feel your best.

Hydrate Smarter
· Ditch the sugary drinks and opt for infused water
· Add electrolytes or even a slice of lemon to your water every morning. Look for low sugar options with potassium and magnesium.
· Coconut water is a natural go-to!
Watch the Salt Creep
· Summer eats like chips, grilled meats, and sauces sneak in sodium.
· Counter it with potassium-rich foods like bananas, sweet potatoes, and spinach to help balance water retention.
· DIY your marinades and dressings to control sodium.
Eat Natural Debloaters
· Pineapple and papaya have enzymes (bromelain & papain) that support digestion.
· Ginger, peppermint, and fennel are herbs that soothe the gut. Sip on tea or toss into smoothies.
· Replace rice with quinoa.
· Add some oats to your yogurt with some berries and make yourself a bloat-free parfait.
· Asparagus is a great source of prebiotic fiber to prevent bloating and constipation.
Skip the Heavy Raw Overload
· Large raw salads can be tough to digest, especially if your gut is sensitive.
· Lightly sauté or steam veggies like kale or broccoli to reduce bloat potential while keeping things light.
Ease Up on Bubbles
· Sparkling water and sodas trap gas, aka bloat.
· If you love fizzy drinks, drink slowly and skip the straw the limit air intake.
Travel Tip: Keep It Moving
Fun Fact: When we fly, the air inside our gut expands due to the atmospheric pressure.
· Long flights or car rides? Pack magnesium-rich snacks like dark chocolate or pumpkin seeds to help with digestion.
· Snack on the go with hydrating veggies such as cucumbers and carrots.
· Make a pre-made trail mix for sustained energy and fiber.
· Walk and stretch regularly. Movement helps move gas through the digestive tract.
De-Stress to Digest
· Stress spikes cortisol, which can slow digestion and worsen bloat.
· Try a 5-minute mindfulness break: deep breathing, or gentle yoga postures like child’s pose and twists.
Bloat happens. But it doesn’t have to steal your sunshine. Try a few of these tweaks and let your body feel as light and bright as summer itself.
